I love names! Here are my suggestions (with meanings), all of them, suitably, Swedish.

Female:
Devnet - home of the Danes
Signe - a sign, victorious
Svea - a woman of Sweden
Valborg- a powerful mountain

My personal favorites are Devnet and Valborg.

Male:
Bergren - mountain stream
Greger - vigilant
Jorgen - a farmer
Nils - victory for the people
Ulf - wolf-like; courageous

My favorites of these are Bergren, Jorgen and Ulf.

Personally, I've always liked "George" - as from the old Bugs Bunny cartoon where Hugo the Abominable Snowman finds Bugs and says "I will love him and hug him and pet him and squeeze him and I will call him George."

Posted by: Cruv at November 16, 2004 03:17 PM

what about an asian name? Just for color.

Posted by: timf at November 16, 2004 04:24 PM

Ok, I think your car needs a common name because it's kind of square.. like BOB.. um.. Like Green Bob square back.. or Mean Bob square front.. or Maybe alliterate it like.. Willy the Wagon... I'll have some more good ones when I'm not as tired. :)

you've covered over half of the names.. you must really be desperate to win that ride or something! :)

Good names are simple.. like BOB. There is character there that can never be replaced by names like "Rooibos"

I submit all of the names in the last baby name book as possibilities. Therefor I WIN!!! :)

Posted by: ethan at November 16, 2004 04:37 PM

you wait just a parker-trippin minute there, ethan-boy. you didn't put any thought into it, you didn't make anything up. therefore YOU cheat. no, son. it's all about ORIGINALITY. or else knowing swedish. or else knowing how to google for swedish.

I proffer *muïrhil* from Middle Zhaïrhiàn. It means, "beautiful." It's pronounced |moy-rheel| give the 'r' a good roll. ;) It can be either masculine or feminine.

Or *vèlredoreos mera.* It means "my chariot." The noun, in this case, is masculine. It is pronounced |vell-ray-doe-ray-ohs may-rah|.

see this for explanation, if you don't already know:

i admire everyone's imaginativeness but naming your new ride is only going to make you sad when it dies--not a good argument to apply to a pet or a child but it works for a car. eg, i had an ancient lesabre named 'lesabre' and i was actually glad when it finally burned up. at least i was glad when i got far away from the flames. but if you insist on having a name, might i recommend VIN? It's on the windshield and it has that scandinavian flavor.

hillary, you're enough of a crack-pot to keep me checking back. (and I meant that in the nicest possible sense.)
