Thanksgiving has been a fun and relaxing break from the routine! For our official "first Thanksgiving" together, Gabe and I went to his parents' home. It is always a lot of fun to catch up on what everyone has been up to.
On Friday I did all in my power to avoid the streets. Since we live directly across from one of the most popular malls in town and on the same square mile as just about every other store you can think of, the traffic was insane! I was again struck by the fact that the day after we express so much thanks for all the blessings in our lives we see crowds of people pushing and shoving each other to get into a store to grab up more materialistic goods. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about a good deal and saving money - but the juxtaposition never ceases to take me aback.
Saturday Gabe and I went out and got our first Christmas tree! Due to some annoying pine allergies we had to go the artificial route - but it is really cute and serves the purpose well. We spent the entire afternoon setting it up, stringing it with lights, and hanging our few ornaments on it. I love sitting on the couch and basking in the soft glow radiating from the tree!
Thanks to my loving husband, I now have the chance to enter the blogging world! After years of journalling, the whole idea writing on a computer and then letting anyone and everyone read it and respond is kind of new to me. But I think it will be fun! I don't promise a continual flow of deep thoughts, but maybe between Gabe and me we will be able to keep this blog a little more up to date. Just a few notes about me so you know a little bit about the person behind the voice - my name is Mandy, I teach public speaking at the University of South Carolina, and I love learning, reading, music, theatre, rock climbing, biking, skiing, traveling, and most of all, my husband and my Lord! Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow!
I was going to post this a while ago, but I forgot. Here's the very first site I did for TrueMatter. It's a site for a manufacturer of steel deck, so not my fault if the content is rather boring. The implementation's pretty bad too. Fortunately, there should be a 2nd phase, so I can fix all the things that I don't like about it.
Check out the website for CSi's Metal Dek Group.
There are a couple more in preview status. I'll post them when they go live. We've also got some other really exciting stuff in the wings, so stay tuned for more website goodness.
I've added my wife Mandy to this blog, so you may start seeing posts pop up here that actually make sense (or contain content that makes sense). Just sos you know.
