Just got a camera, don't know how to use it.
Behold Allen Sligh--champion wrestler, world-renowned Volapük scholar, extreme sport enthusiast, my brother, sitting adjacent to The Cat.
Posted by jonsligh at February 17, 2005 12:21 AMI like The Cat. And welcome the photo of Allen Sligh to the www. Have fun with the camera.
Posted by: micah at February 17, 2005 01:36 AMI got a camera too! And I'm still learning how to use it!
The cat is just ADORABLE!!!!! Super cute! Makes me want to cuddle the little kittie : )
Posted by: Rosina at February 17, 2005 09:57 AMScary. Seriously. I was scared for life by that freaky song about Siamese cats in Disney's LADY AND THE TRAMP. As I young child, I was sure that t was Baby's flesh the Cats were after, not Baby's milk. And they could talk. And SING (visble shudders all around).
Cute brother, though ;o)
Posted by: jen d at February 17, 2005 10:33 AMI can identify with you , Jen D. I had a Disney sing-along video that had the Siamese song. I used to get so mad at the cats because the dog got in trouble (the pain and the anger were invoked every time I watched it). (I did like their grammatical constructions: "Do you seeing that thing srimming round and round?"). No need to worry about The Cat, though. It's scared of birds, the vacuum cleaner, and the family's kitten.
Posted by: sligh at February 17, 2005 10:42 AMCool. Glad to know you identify, and that The Cat is under control. And, don't you have a coupl'o brothers? Are you even the person I think you are (who I remember, I think, from my freshman tutorial en102 class???)
This will be embarrassing if, in fact, you are not he. Not that it matters. I still like your blog!
Posted by: jen d at February 17, 2005 12:27 PMmelissa, jen

you can see my other brother, chris, if you look at the my sidebar under "what chris is up to" or under "chris foto." to distinguish him from the other fellows--he has glasses, curly dark hair, no facial hair, and is less slim than i.
en102. yes. maurie buck, right?
Posted by: sligh at February 17, 2005 01:02 PMBuck! That was it! (I couldn't remember the name this morning for the life of me.) Ah, good, I'm not a TOTAL flake...
Posted by: jen d at February 17, 2005 02:41 PMIs Sparky in town, or was that over Christmas?
Posted by: apple at February 17, 2005 02:51 PMWait a second. I had a Mrs. Laurie Buck for my EN102 freshman tutorial class Fall '99. I don't think you all were in my section though. I must say, though, she was privileged to teach some exceptional students. (just don't look at the grade I got on my freshmen paper)
Posted by: Dan at February 17, 2005 03:14 PMapl, that was christmas break
Posted by: sligh at February 17, 2005 03:56 PMDan, do you have a sister named Jessica? Just curious. I remember afew select people from that tutorial class: 1)Song Soh, my long-lost Singaporean friend. She was awesome. We worked on that last paper together. Something about Peanut Butter. It was a joke, really, but we got a good grade and had fun doing it. 2)Ken Iverson. This where I met Ken for the first time. Funny guy. Wicked smart, too, and gives good advice. Also worked on said Peanut Butter paper. 3) A guy whose name was, I think, Dominique. Or Dominik? I remember him specifically because his paper was about legislation for Amish people driving horse buggies. I can't remember if he was for or against the buggies. But he was passionate, and who can forget that? 4)Jon Sligh: he sat back towards the corner and said intelligent things while I sat in the front, was often late (like that one day that that big paper was due? Bless Mrs. buck, she still gave me a good grade), and got in trouble for talking to Ken. Ken reinforced this memory of Sligh. But I think it had something to do with Sligh's brother, Chris, and his performance of "Celeste Aida," of which both Ken and I were impressed.
That's all I'll say for now.
Posted by: jen d at February 18, 2005 09:34 AMi was so blasted mad about that paper grade. i had a C in the class at midterm. scared the living daylights outta me.
dominic dinunzio is who you're thinking of.
don't forget brad chymist and jeanelle mackiewicz, both of whom sat next to me.
Nope, don't have a sister named Jessica.
I do know Ken Iverson. I sat next to him in Biology. I graded his quizzes so, yeah, I can verify that he is wicked smart. I think he's in med school in Columbia or Charleston. Can't remember which.
And Dominic was in my freshmen speech with Miss Christy Moye.
Seems just like yesterday.
Posted by: Dan at February 18, 2005 07:08 PMIf you wanted to know...
Ken's in med. school at USC in Columbia. He got married before starting there.
Song is at home in Singapore teaching.
Now Ken being married to the Wonderful (I mean it!) Heather, I knew. Heather is fabulous! I need to visit them. Or, at least e-mail... Now, on the other hand, if anyone could supply with Song's e-mail, I'd do backflips, or something like them... :o)
Happy to oblige: try [email protected]
Posted by: dk at February 22, 2005 04:06 PMIn case you're wondering about The Cat's eyes, be assured that you're not seeing an optical illusion caused by poor photography technique. That's what The Cat's eyes really look like.
Posted by: sligh at February 26, 2005 02:45 PMLike I said: creepy ;o) And, thanks for the address, dk! Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I certainly will :o)
Posted by: jen d at February 26, 2005 11:02 PMOoh. i think she might have a new one, so you might try [email protected].
