Some thoughts on the issue of portraying Christ in film:
True---Showing Christ on screen IS a depiction of deity. Some would say this breaks the 2nd commandment.
Yet, at the same time, Christ DID come in human flesh, entering our history. By showing the cruxifiction, we are not making the deity to be something he is not. We are showing him as he really was---human.
The Biblical story of the Passion is not somehow disconnected from history. It is part of history, with only days and years and centuries separating that time from our own modern world.
To show the Father or the Holy Spirit visually certainly brings up more difficult questions---but to represent the Son is to do what God has already done---portrayed deity in human form.
Any thoughts?
