I absolutely love the song Worthy The Lamb on SoundForth's When Jesus Comes CD.
Here are the lyrics for you:
John Kent (1766-1843)
'TIS the church triumphant singing,
Worthy the Lamb!
Heaven throughout with praises ringing,
Worthy the Lamb!
Thrones and powers before Him bending;
Odours sweet, with voice, ascending;
Swells the chorus never-ending,
Worthy the Lamb!
2 Every kindred, tongue, and nation,
Worthy the Lamb!
Join to sing the great salvation,
Worthy the Lamb!
Loud as mighty thunders roaring,
Floods of mighty waters pouring,
Prostrate at His feet adoring,
Worthy the Lamb!
3Harps and songs forever sounding,
Worthy the Lamb.
Mighty grace o'er sin abounding,
Worthy the Lamb.
By His blood He dearly bought us,
Wandering from the fold He sought us,
And to glory faithful brought us,
Worthy the Lamb.
4 Sing with blest anticipation,
Worthy the Lamb!
Through the vale of tribulation,
Worthy the Lamb!
Sweetest notes, all notes excelling,
On His love for ever dwelling,
Still untold, though ever telling,
Worthy the Lamb!
But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again? It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
Galatians 4:9; 5:1, 13, 16
8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
(Psalms 77:1-14 NASB)
My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me. (2) In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; My soul refused to be comforted. (3) When I remember God, then I am disturbed; When I sigh, then my spirit grows faint. (4) You have held my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak. (5) I have considered the days of old, The years of long ago. (6) I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart, And my spirit ponders: (7) Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favorable again? (8) Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever? (9) Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? (10) Then I said, "It is my grief, That the right hand of the Most High has changed." (11) I shall remember the deeds of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. (12) I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds. (13) Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God? (14) You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples.
God put [Christ] forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.Romans 3:25
William Cowper wrote about this verse:
Immediately I received the strength to believe it, and the full beams of the Sun of Righteousness shone upon me. I saw the sufficiency of the atonement He had made, my pardon sealed in His blood, and all the fullness and completeness of His justification. In a moment I believed, and received the gospel. . . Unless the Almighty arm had been under me, I think I should have died with gratitude and joy. My eyes filled with tears, and my voice choked with transport; I could only look up to heaven in silent fear, overwhelmed with love and wonder.
~ Gilbert Thomas, William Cowper and the Eighteenth Century, p. 132
(see Foundations for Full Assurance a message by John Piper.)
Thine and Thine only, I shall ever be, To Thy praise with all the saints eternally. There to praise Thee and Thee only, Lord of all Grace. In glory soon to see Thee ever face to face.
God gives grace when I am crying.
God gives grace when I am laughing.
God gives more grace.
So Love and Obedience are One. The Son obeyed and loved.
The Father sent the Son, The Son glorifies the Father, And the Spirit testifies of the Son.
what will be my necklace? what will adorn my neck? the pride of the wicked? or the grace of Your wisdom?
My Father is Jesus' Father.
My God is Jesus' God.
Jesus went to His Father and to my Father.
Jesus went back to His God and to my God.
And He is coming back for me.
(see John 20:17; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58)
Do not fear questions about Truth.
Fear not caring enough about Truth to ask questions.
Let me fear the LORD! Let me obey. And hear Your servant's voice. Let me walk in darkness with no light And fear not. Because I trust in Your Name, and rely on my God. Help me Sovereign LORD, Almighty never to kindle my own fire; never to walk in my own light. Keep me from that torment from Your hand.
(see Isaiah 50:10-11)
Rich, rich, So rich indeed. Adopted, it pleased Him -- to the praise of His Glorious grace. Which is bestowed On us, made us, Accepted in the Beloved.
Just be still And know I am God. Just be still And see where I have trod.
Just be still And trust My will. Just be still And know that I fulfill.
Just be still And in awe stand. Just be still And see I hold your hand.
These bones are too quiet,
Spirit breath on them
That they may speak
For you.
I was lame, and am--but healed, I walk now by grace. I was blind, but a Light shined in darkness and by faith I comprehended. I was condemned, but a King made me free from the law of sin and death. I am adopted, and I cry as a son, "Abba! Father!" The Spirit testifies. I do not know how to pray, but the Spirit helps my weakness. Interceding by inexpressible words known by Him who searches hearts. I know God is Sovereign and He causes all things to work together For good to those who love Him and are called.
28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;
30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
33 Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies;
34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 Just as it is written, "FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED."
37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
~ Romans 8:28-39 (NAS)
"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments."
~ John 14:15 (NAS)
Cause in me fruit to grow, unlike any fleshly deeds manifested.
I am my worst foe; Help me in Your Word to feed. Adopted.
Draw me close Sovereign Lord!
Keep me near the throne of grace;
Watch me with th'angelic host.
Let me always seek Thy face,
And with my lips praise Thee most.
We are the Body:
You will be My witnesses.
The Power has come.
falling snow, down, down
here today, gone tomorrow
life is a vapor.
Break these bones! I gladly will suffer for You.
Only remember my mortal frame, so lend
Me Your grace; my soul You surely will defend.
My comfort secured, seeing Your hope anew.
quiet minds, quiet hearts
open hearts, open mouths
finding what's worth keeping
shedding what's worth losing
seeing the eternal, singing it
knowing He could come
right
now...
come,
Lord
Jesus.
Hear the bells ringing;
Hear the people singing.
Here is the Christ shining;
Here is the Spirit moving.
Fare, with people sitting;
Fare, with Saints staying.
Fair our God in promising;
Fair our God in keeping.
Two natures keep fighting;
Two forces keep dancing.
To nurture the winning,
To fight the losing:
Trust only the guiding,
Believe only the keeping,
Of God and His completing
Work.
disturbing
doubt
where's the mustard seed faith
that moves the mountain?
why are the thomases
descending on the Church?
there is Hope.
there is Peace.
there is Grace.
Your Word is Truth.
falling, falling down...
breathing, breathing harder now...
Caught by Father, caught.
Tiredness creeps through joints and freezes bone.
Lifting a hand is a job for another day.
I've been a busy; I've been a happy-worker drone.
And for all my work, there's more to be done anyway.
Yet will I praise the Lord of Heaven and earth.
Rejoice, all peoples of the nations!
Shout and sing! Make known Messiah's birth.
Rejoice, all peoples and make celebrations!
Burdens are lifted when friends listen.
Trouble is stopped by remembering
God is the One Who takes action.
It is He that does all my fear allaying.
Hallelujah, in peace
I am free! yes, free indeed.
Help me grow--to increase;
Help me tell my creed.
Hallelujah, in glory
I shall see Your Face.
Help me tell the Story;
Help me sing Your grace.
While facing my agressor,
Give peace and love divine.
In all attempts for honor,
Humility to me assign.
In seeing pink clouds lit by sunlight,
In songs of laud by voices raised,
In random laughs of childish delight,
In all these ways You can be praised.
So let me see Your grace,
In all my walking days.
Keep joy ever in my face,
Hold straight and firm my gaze.
Let Christ alone be my hope,
And His work my life's scope.
God the Father of Christ our Lord
Is but One, so strike the chord!
If only for Him we exist,
Sing out, sing out, and Heaven enlist!
Christ the Victor o'er sin and death,
Hath given us life, hath given us breath.
Let all the host of Heaven sing
Praises to God, our glorious King.
Holy Spirit within our hearts,
Thy boundless love to us impart!
Ring out, ring out the bells of joy:
The call to Saints your voices employ.
