I've been asked recently in comments for more of an update on work. I've gotten a new boss, and the transition has been smooth so far. In fact, I already knew the new guy before he was hired, so that helps. He's brought some new ideas that I look forward to implementing.
My load has gotten better as I've become more settled at the paper. We've reached a point where we are now talking about a complete redesign of the paper in the next few months.
Having been through that once before (see here and here), I know it's a lot of work, but I think the improvement it brings is incredibly valuable.
Much of my time is spent managing and editing -- surprise -- but I do still cover some news. In fact, check this news out. It's a major story for our small community. I got the story because I was attentive, curious, and willing to get dirty (literally). Thankfully I keep a pair of boots in my car.
