Life is so full of just stuff, the stuff that gets in the way of all those things we think we really want to do. But while we're waiting to do what we think we really want to do, we miss enjoying or learning from the stuff that life is made of. All that stuff can be full of moments of wonder, import, and impact. But we miss it all because we're always sure that the stuff is not what life is supposed to be about. Surely life is meant for bigger, better, more exciting moments than those moments that come with stuff. But if that is true, why do we spend most of our lives just taking care of stuff and why does the stuff of life so frequently infere with our ulitmate plans.
I think it's because it's the stuff of life that make us turn to God. If our plans take shape as we have intended, we forget the One who ultimately brings things to pass. When life is mundane and tedious and full of stuff, we must look up to find the joy. We must look up to find the value of our lives. Every moment is God-given so the stuff of life must be important. There is something about that mundane moment of stuff that will point me to Him. And it is only by looking at Him and trusting Him, even in the midst of stuff, that supreme happiness can be found.
